SUMMERWIND PREDICTS THAT IN SPAIN THERE WILL BE THREE BIG GROUPS THAT WILL GENERATE 90% OF THE ACTIVITY
Federico Lledó proposes to generate two periods of holidays of 15 days instead of one of 30 to reduce the seasonality.
The CEO of the airline company Summerwind, Federico Lledó Soria, assumes that the concentration of large tourist groups will be the main trend that the sector will experience. “In Spain there will be three large groups that will generate 90% of the total industry,” he says in the special 30th anniversary of AGENTTRAVEL magazine.
How would you summarize the last decades of the Spanish tourism?
For receptive tourism, I believe that it is clear that it has been successful. Year after year records are beaten but it is necessary to pay attention in which, sometimes, these records bring negative consequences. Just remember the collapse that this summer has occurred in some populations of the Balearic or Canary Islands. We must pay attention to quality rather than quantity. The evolution of tourism has been different. It is especially sensitive to economic crises and is always exposed to other people’s situations. I believe that it has finally established itself as an industry with sustained growth.
Which is the pending subject of the Spanish tourism?
As I said in the previous question, to develop quality tourism and the seasonality. We concentrate sales in two months of the year, especially in the issuer. It is necessary to change habits and try to generate two 15-day vacation periods instead of a 30-day vacation. This would generate a severe change in the travel period.
What do you think will be the trend that will mark tourism in the coming years?
The concentration of big groups. In Spain there will remain three big groups that will generate 90% of the whole industry. The way is already lay out and now the takeovers and purchases are in the agenda.
